Leatherwood Mountains Wedding 

I had the pleasure of photographing Tracy & Dwayne’s engagement session earlier in the summer at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC.  It was at their engagement session that I learned of their love for horses and the great outdoors. Tracy had chosen a rustic theme for her autumn wedding and in my opinion, selected the perfect venue at Leatherwood Mountains Resort. Leatherwood Mountains is tucked away close to the High Country of Boone, NC. The couple had rented the AMAZING Bliss Mountain Lodge for the weekend. The entire lodge had beautiful rustic decor like cowhide rugs and a buffalo fur chair!

I must say first, Tracy was just an all out wonderful bride and everyone there was very sweet. When I first arrived at the venue, the power had just went out due to a storm (on my drive up I passed the fallen tree that had took out the power lines). The power remained off for about an hour and Tracy was as cool as a cucumber. I really didn’t mind that the power was off because the lodge featured beautiful wall to ceiling windows. While I had my off camera flash available to light things as needed, I chose to instead, photograph with the available light during this time. I believe by doing this, it added a different dimension to her photos, that I otherwise wouldn’t have had.

Tracy and Dwayne had a very intimate wedding with a handful of guests. Her orange and red bouquet of calla lilies and red hypericum berry, fit perfectly into the autumn color scheme. I LOVE red hypericum berry added to fall bouquets, I’ve seen it used at a lot of the autumn weddings this year and it really adds a beautiful pop of color to flower arrangements. Tracy’s dress came from Anthroplogie. Jewelry from Kay Jewelers.
